What is that? What’s the name of that local club that you belong to? So you know, we I was anxious to help the club. So leadership was not something new to me. And we’re meeting at a high school, and I found a terribly informative, you know, being new to turning I had a great deal to learn.Īnd I enjoyed it. And by the second meeting, I was vice president of the club. And so is there clubs there in the in the area that you do belong to? And I jumped into a 3520 and I’ve never looked back but okay. Right after I come back, our local wood supply store was having a sale 15% off. It was our, our anniversary, and I turned a vessel hollow form with a huge negative space in it. And I knew that’s the direction I had to go. So, shortly after that, Eric, I took a class at John C Campbell, okay, turned on 3520. And my wife came running down saying are you okay? Wow. I threw a burl across the basement hit the wall. And the next thing I know I’ve got 50-pound bags of concrete hanging from I’ve got a bowl on there. Oh, the first lathe, I got was a 7100 RIKON. What type of what was the first lathe that you got? So just on a whim, I went over and bought a lathe one to our local wood supply store here took a class and I was hooked. And Woodcraft was running a sale on Lathes. So we’re at our daughter’s over in Plymouth, Michigan. And I sat down on the chair and I said to my wife, what am I gonna do? And she said, I don’t really know but if you don’t find something, I’m gonna kill you. I had enough firewood cut and split for about four years. It was just retirement that kind of Was there anything else that kind of sparked the interest to go I want to start turning again.Īfter about a year, we built this house. So I’m really sorry, I took those years off. I want to go back to when I want to revisit. I said, Well, I was before you and others just something there. My wife looked at me and said you’ve never turned. And we were building our retirement home and I said to my wife and the architect, I need a shop and the architects of what do you can do and I said I’m gonna turn. The problem was I took about 45 or 48 years off before I went back. I turned metal lathe and turned on a wood lathe. Well, I started in eighth-grade shop class, okay.
